Central Market project for Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood gets approval | Real Estate | Dallas News

Dallas architect Omniplan and San Antonio design firm Lake|Flato are designing the development, which will take up most of the 4.8-acre block.

KDC plans to build a 2-acre public plaza on the roof of the Central Market that will have access to the office tower and shops and restaurants facing the elevated public space.

The Central Market is planned to be the largest yet by the chain, which already has six North Texas locations.

Dallas’ city plan commission gave unanimous approval for the Uptown development, which still must pass the city council.

The plan commission also voted to allow developers restoring downtown Dallas’ landmark Cabana Hotel to add a residential tower to the project.

Centurion American Development Group is renovating the 10-story, 57-year-old hotel on Stemmons Freeway across from Victory Park.

Centurion American plans to build the apartment high-rise on top of the existing parking garage.
